Wellcome Trust
Biodata Innovation Centre
The vision
The Biodata Innovation Centre project was developed for the Wellcome Trust at their Genome Campus in Hinxton as an incubator for new biodata companies on campus. The facility provides new flexible office space to attract startup and growing businesses to campus that are aligned with the translational goals of the campus institutes.
The new 3000m2, 2-level building is linked to the recently completed new sequencing laboratories of the Sanger Institute and provides flexible break-out and meeting spaces for collaboration and knowledge-sharing between businesses operating within the facility, as well as a café and amenities within the bridge link.
Our Role
We act as trusted advisor to the Wellcome Trust in our role to provide the full range of project management & duties from project inception through to handover and operation.
Building on existing relationships with the design team and contractor successfully delivering the adjoining and concurrent Sanger Sequencing Building, we led the highly collaborative project team to deliver both projects on budget and on time within very constrained programmes.
Significant stakeholder engagement and liaison duties were required throughout the briefing and design phases to ensure the facility is delivered to meet the needs of the myriad project stakeholders on campus.
The development and implementation of dynamic procurement and contracting strategies led by 3PM was critical to deliver the project on time. Careful management and coordination of the project adjoining other concurrent projects and adjacent buildings was critical to the safe delivery of the project as well as the safety and continuity of the wider campus activities.
