Wellcome Trust
Sanger Sequencing Building
The vision
The Sanger Sequencing Building project was initiated to deliver a new world-class DNA sequencing facility for the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Genomics England at the Genome Campus. This extraordinarily fast-track project was initiated in early 2014, and was completed in July 2015.
Set over 3 levels of laboratory, support, office and energy centre space, the 4,500m2 new state-of-the-art facility is sited on the campus’ Southfield development and will keep the Sanger Institute’s operations at the forefront of genetic sequencing now and well into the future.
The facility will also be home to the operations of Genomics England to deliver the Human Genome Project, a UK Government initiative to sequence 100,000 human genomes by 2017 that will propel the UK to the forefront of genetic research.
Our Role
We act as trusted advisor to the Wellcome Trust in our role to provide the full range of project management & duties from project inception through to handover and operation.
We led the project team with exceptionally high levels of collaboration to deliver the project within the Client’s critical time constraints and on budget.
The development and implementation of dynamic procurement and contracting strategies led by 3PM was critical to deliver the project on time. Careful management and coordination of the project adjoining other concurrent projects and adjacent buildings was critical to the safe delivery of the project as well as the safety and continuity of the wider campus activities.
