Frontier Development Plc

Frontier Relocation

The vision

Frontier Development was founded by David Braben’s work in games started way back in 1982 when David co-authored the seminal game “Elite”.  Frontier has built a uniquely diverse track record comprising games that have defined genres, been critically acclaimed and sold many millions of copies.

Having worked with a succession of top publishers they now self-publish their own titles, developing high quality, innovative games of different genres across all major gaming formats.

As part of this growth Frontier were seeking to expand in to some XXX sqFT with a bespoke fit-out of a new office building on the Cambridge Science Park.

The work includes the Cat B fit-out of tenant areas over 4 levels including Undercroft (car park area), Ground Level, Level 1 and Level 2. The scope is to fit out the tenant spaces at all floors, except for undeveloped space on the ground level.  On the Ground Level and Undercroft, improvements are proposed to the Undercroft lift lobby, atrium connecting stairs, atrium reception area and ground level entry area.  Modifications to proposed Cat A finishes have also been proposed.  At levels 1 and 2, the building men’s toilets will be extended to include an additional two stalls per floor.

All meeting rooms will have glass partitions along one side, all remaining partitions will be constructed of plasterboard on metal framing. All doors within the Cat B fit-out work will be floor-to-ceiling height, with oak timber veneer finish and painted timber frames/architraves.  All skirting and architraves are to match the building Cat A standard.  All toilet extensions will match the Cat A standards.  All ceilings and lighting will match the Cat A standard, with the exception of specialty lighting in staff canteen and tea point areas.

Our Role

3PM were appointed to facilitate the lease negotiations with the landlord Trinity College. The works were procured via a single tender negotiation which subsequently secured a completion 4 months ahead of programme in time for new games release by Frontier

Our business was specifically established to provide a personal yet professional service, and we continue to evolve to adapt our services by listening to our clients’ needs and providing tailored advice specific to the business needs of each.
Our ethos and culture is underpinned by trust, honesty and diligence to create a collaborative environment with our industry colleagues based on mutual respect. We continue to partner with the best in the industry to form specialist, cohesive teams in order to provide high performance solutions for our mutual clients.
At the core of our business is our passionate and tenacious team who are empowered to make decisions and will go the extra mile to achieve the best results on everything we do. We have developed an environment based on harnessing teamwork, rewarding success and recognising the skills and talents of the whole team.

Creativity

Project Management is not usually associated with creativity, as it is traditionally the preserve of the design contingent within project teams. At 3PM creativity means that we will always look to develop solutions that can be explained in a variety of styles, forms and outputs, all of which are tailored for the audience rather than just delivering what can sometimes be a routine answer.
We use tools and techniques that we have developed to ensure the advice we are providing can be understood by all and can be implemented in a number of ways to achieve the same result.
At 3PM we take the strategic view of all commissions to identify where opportunities lie to add value and act as the catalyst by bringing together the best teams for our clients. We spend time looking at what the client needs; asking why they need what they have asked for and what behaviours and skills are best suited to deliver the need they have of the team.
We feel that our expertise and the way we deliver complex scenarios is our differentiation from the established traditions and perceptions of Project Management execution.
We pride ourselves on our ability to create an environment that encourages innovation and tests the perceived norms.
We look for bespoke solutions where appropriate that enhance our clients’ existing systems and add to the Intellectual Property of all our commissions.
